Dr. Ralph Meima has spent approximately half of his life in the USA and half in Western Europe, most recently a 14-year period in Sweden. A US citizen, Dr. Meima's career has included IT and marketing positions at IBM, Accenture, and LM Ericsson. His education comprises a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an M.A. in International Relations from Johns Hopkins/SAIS, an MBA from the Wharton School, and a Ph.D. (Ek.doktor) from Lund University, Sweden.
Dr. Meima has a diverse and comprehensive background as a communicator in both commercial and academic settings. Through Meima Communications, he has achieved his present mastery of advertising copywriting, journalism, technical writing, and Swedish-to-English translation. He has authored a number of books and articles in the field of environmental management, and is a long-standing thinker, commentator, and practitioner in the fields of business sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and games and simulations for training. He is a fluent speaker of Swedish, French, and German in addition to his native English, and is a highly experienced translator of Swedish commercial, technical, and legal texts into English.
Alongside his role as principal of Meima Communications, Ralph Meima is Program Director of the new MBA in Managing for Sustainability, currently being launched by the Marlboro College Graduate Center in Brattleboro, Vermont. Prior to this appointment, he held the rank of Assistant Professor of Organizational Management at the School for International Training in Brattleboro from 2002 to 2006, and serves on the boards of the Greening of Industry Network and Vermont Environmental Consortium. He is active in his community and at the state level in the areas of renewable energy, sustainability education, health care reform, and other progressive initiatives. .
